Compare and contrast...

I am so surprised (and flattered) by how many people were eager to see the results of my experiment. Sorry it took so long to get it up. The first two months of the year are always the busiest :)

So here is how it went. I picked looks that I like and used them as inspiration for my weeks outfits. I did my best with my body type, wardrobe and own fashion perspective...

I love this look on Alexa Chung. Paris in the Fall. Louis Vuitton. Sublime.

Me. Santa Monica. Not so sublime but comfy in Marni, H & M and the old standby Chanel ballet flats.

Runway Derek Lam. Long and lean perfection.

This one was tough. Because it is all about the color of the pants and the wide leg. I stuck with the high waisted but with a more narrow leg because it was what I had. I must say, I love the high waisted pants. Both my shirt and my muffin tops stay tucked in :) J.Crew blouse, Rich and Skinny jeans with "Vintage" Matt Bernson sandals and an old, old, old Ralph Lauren belt.

Zoe Saldana looking casual and clean wearing white jeans in the middle of winter.

Because I can't wear high heels all day my version looks much more sporty. Which is me...So it is what it is. I love the colors because they are calm and crisp. In my book, white jeans are now all year-round perfect. Boys Polo Ralph Lauren navy blazer, 6267 blouse, Gap jeans with Gravati lizard loafers.

Well, well. Not much of a stretch I must admit. If I had a uniform this would be it. But I love the blue and black...Plus HIS accessories are great.

My sticks are a bit pale for shorts just yet but black jeans seem to fit the bill. Antik Batik scarf, H & M tee, JBrand jeans and, again, Gravati loafers.

I have a love/hate relationship with GP but, fashion wise, she is usually pretty much spot on when it comes to uptown casual. I love the Current/Elliots with Stella McCartney jacket and heals.

My C/E's were dirty so I made due with Basic Good G1's (my go to summer cut off's), American Eagle Outfitters tee, a VERY old Michael Kors blazer with Dolce and Gabbana heels...which I DID NOT wear all day becasue I switched to brown loafers the second after this picture was taken!

The point...It kinda took the pressure off to see a "Look" that I liked and then just copied it. I have a friend who tears photos from magazines and posts them on her dressing room wall for inspiration. I used to laugh but now I think it is a great idea that I am going to immediately put into use. The funny thing I learned was that it had much more to do with color than actually pieces. Which will definitely help when shopping.

Remember... "Copying is the sincerest form of flattery".
